The following drawings are some of the first sketches I ever did of Jellaby (who I had named 'Cuddles' at the time). If memory serves, the first drawing below was literally the first ever drawing I did of Portia and Jellaby, pulled right out of my sketchbook. There was just something about these two characters that tugged at me -- they seemed like such an odd pairing, I just wanted to learn more about their relationship.
Some of these ideas eventually found their way into the graphic novels or short stories, sometimes entirely verbatim.
